Each design is also accompanied by an Accredited Appraisal (AAP CJA) (www.canadianjewellers.com). With 35 years of experience, Allan Malbranck understands the importance of excelling in the jewellery industry. He recently completed the most comprehensive appraisal training in Valuation Sciences and is proud to be the first jeweller in Western Canada to receive this honourable Accreditation.
"Insist on an Accredited AAP Appraisal when purchasing new jewellery over $1,000.00," stresses Allan. "A person trained as a gemmologist does not necessarily mean that he or she is qualified as an appraiser."
Competency in gemmology is acquired after a few years of technical experience involving the identification of gems and is based on scientifically analyzed factual information. Approximately 60 to 75 per cent of gemmologist's appraisals in the marketplace are inaccurate, due mostly to inflated claims of quality or values.
The new accredited certificate assures the client that the appraiser has not only identified the gems and metals accurately but has also detailed a factual description of the piece, has researched the marketplace selling prices of similar jewellery (new, used, or antique values), and can justify the value placed on the item.
