DISCLOSING 'SOURCE OF ORIGIN'
The Diamond Gallery has come to realize that our clients are concerned about three major issues when acquiring their diamond:
- Where it is mined, and
- Where it is manufactured,
- Above all, the decision to purchase a diamond is usually a romantic one. Our clients trust us to focus on design, personalized client services, and to ensure a memorable experience!
MINING
The first concern is that they do not want their diamond to come from war torn central African countries. Civil wars and black market sales have resulted in numerous human atrocities in those countries. National Geographic and the Discovery Channel have released documentaries on the issue. It was widely accepted that in 1999 about 4% of the world's diamonds came from this area. Currently with worldwide pressure against these suppliers, that figure has been cut in half.
The Diamond Gallery has been pro-active on this issue. For several years now, we have been purchasing diamonds from cutters with a clear understanding that they make every attempt to acquire uncut diamonds only from 'conflict free' sources of origin. Further, for the client who requires actual proof of origin, the solution was becoming clear. The EKATI™ Diamond Mine was now a reality.
