Canada's discovery of diamonds was timely. Just prior to the arrival of Canadian diamonds, a world wide patented laser technology enabled cutters to document information on the girdle (side edge) of the diamonds. Certification on the actual diamond, backed by a respected authority, became critical to prove authenticity. The EKATI™ Diamond Mine became and is still the only mine in the world to sell rough diamonds directly to the cutters, ensuring that every diamond is 'conflict free.' The EKATI Registered Trademark and serial number is laser engraved on the diamond with supporting information on authenticated print documentation.
At the Diamond Gallery we laser engrave our Registered Trademark and a serial number. This step further documents the diamonds journey into one of our signature designs, and into our clients' possession. Historically, this will prove the diamonds 'provenance' in its travel from prehistoric evolution to its current owner!
Clients periodically ask if the laser inscription affects the value of the diamond. The laser is microscopic, visible only under a microscope, and does not decrease its value.
